For few years now, I have been working on this idea of a series of documentaries under the title “ The scrapbook of life”, telling the life story of people from different religions, philosophies and beliefs. How your belief can manifest through you creating a unique meaning and understanding to your life experience.
I am very curious to see how people see life, live it and explain it through their own beliefs.
I was finally able to shoot my first story with “Wong”
Film 1: Buddhism, the Wong view
Wong moved from China to Croatia with his small family. He opened a tea house in which he organizes special tea ceremonies by sharing the wisdom he learnt as a new follower of Buddhism.
So in this first film we will flip through the life pages of “Wong” from birth till the moment of shooting and get to see his version of Buddhism.
My goal out of this series beside discovering “the other” beliefs, is to see and show the big picture of life in which we are all humans sharing this experience of existence for a limited time and trying to live it in the best way we afford.
The project is a melting pot of all the differences between humans and brings to the mind a moment to think, question the value and meaning of life and increases our understanding to the diversity of different religions, philosophies and visions.
I will be now working on the editing part which is very challenging as I want to mix the art of scrapbooking with documentary filmmaking. A totally new experience and will be filled with experimentation and trial and error.
I believe that this project is important for the Arabic world to create more acceptance to the other which is not common even in today’s society. I will be subtitling the series in Arabic.
